GCG-Fellowship-Programme

/ 16. Mai 2018

The GCG-Fellowship-Programme, founded in 2015, invites applications for Visiting Research Fellowships between four and twelve months. The Centre aims to foster interdisciplinary activities in Gender and Queer Studies and build international collaborations.

Target Group for GCG-Fellowships

The GCG welcomes innovative junior and distinguished senior researchers holding a doctorate (in exceptional cases: end of PhD stage) from Gender/Queer Studies or related fields with clear links to gender research, national as well as international.

To ensure the best work conditions, potential candidates should search for potential hosts in advance (see GCG website for potential partners http://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/mitglieder-und-angeh%C3%B6rige/489361.html, but also other partners from our university are possible). We encourage candidates to clarify with potential hosts as early as possible the conditions of their research stay (access to workplaces, infrastructure, teaching, talks, etc.).

Type of Fellowship-Programme

The GCG-Fellowship is a non-stipendiary fellowship, as the GCG has at the moment unfortunately no opportunities to fund or financially support external guests or research visits. Therefore, we strongly recommend potential candidates to examine national and international opportunities for funding research visits in advance (see GCG website/International office for links to potential travel grants https://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/219851.html and for example DAAD https://www.daad.de/en/). Successful candidates will receive a letter of invitation for a non-stipendiary fellowship to be be used for external funding applications. In order to encourage interdisciplinary exchange and collaboration, fellows are invited to meet members of the GCG, join the events (co-)organized by the GCG, and are expected to present a paper at least once during their stay. No payment of a university/administration fee is required.

Teaching a course (28h/term as weekly or block course) in the BA- or MA program “Gender Studies” is required to receive a GCG fellowship including access to the university’s infrastructure, the library etc. Exceptions to this might be regulated by the funding bodies/travel grants and will of course be considered.

Length of stay

Minimum 4 months - maximum 12 months.

Short-term visits (2 weeks to max. 3 months) at the GCG should be clarified outside the common fellowship.

Requirements

Applicants need to identify 1 or 2 possible hosts (members of the GCG) that will provide the visiting scholar with a work place and access to the internet and other facilities. In cases the applicant has not yet identified an interested host, the GCG is willing to serve as mediator.
